  1. I almost get Amazon forcing subscriptions on users, since they make relatively little from the hardware, but I won’t pay 350+ for a device that can’t play my music without me paying a subscription to hear it. Till they fix that my wallet remains closed.

  2. While this approach and it’s variations may work, it seems like a real PITA. I don’t want to go sit in front of my computer and either feed it one song at a time, or use Plex from my computer. No, I want to say “Hay Google, play my local music” or something like that. Is there a third party plug in to the Google home like all the 1000 apps for the home automation? Thanks, Mark.

  3. Try Astiga. It’s a music player that plays your own music files that you have copied across to a cloud storage like Google Drive (as you should have done anyway as a back up for your music files). This works with voice commands to playback over your Google home speakers or hub, as well as being able to do playback by Bluetooth to them if you prefer. It’s free and I have used this via their website and also there Android app using the same passwords to obtain access. You can play single tracks, Albums, or draw up playlists. It’s worth giving it a try.
