How to Disable a Stolen Mobile/Cell Phone?

This is a wonderful tip to save your phone that can be done as a measure of precaution before losing your phone just in case. For this, first, you have to get your Mobile phone’s serial number. This serial number is a required to track or find the phone if it is stolen.

To get your Mobile phone’s serial number, press the following keys on your phone.

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

When your phone get stolen, you can call your service provider and give them this code.

They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won’t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can’t use/sell it either.

  2. On 4 May, 2009, I bought an E-71 series Nokia phone with an IMEI No. 35194035047614 from a phone shop in Abuja, Nigeria. On 3 August, 2010, it was stolen from my office desk in Enugu, Nigeria. My GSM service provider, MTN Nigeria presently does not support disabling of stolen phones.

    I will like NOKIA to assist me in doing this. I can’t get the phone and all the information stored in it back, but I will have the satisfaction of depriving the common thief, the joy of enjoying my property which he acquired illegally.
