Hi! Great article, thank you for including Bridgefy! There are however a few details that I’d like to clear up: Bridgefy lets people exchange messages over a range of up to 330 feet (100 meters), and we have Android-iOS communications. Bridgefy also allows for mesh-network communications, with unlimited hops, and is completely encrypted. All feedback is welcome! Thank you!
@Jorge,
Thank you for the feedback. However, Android Play store page still listed the range as 230 ft. / 75 yards. Updated mesh communication feature on the article.
How to increase the range?
I can say that Firemesh and Servel don’t work worth a damn.
Before going into the article I felt there are no better offline messaging apps. But after reading this article I practically tested some of above included apps(Hike,Bridgefy). They are worked well. Thank you for sharing such a nice article with us.
I think you could point out Realpopup Android chat. It’s absoltely free and use W-Fi connection for messaging over local wireless network. The Internet connection is not required, so it can be considered as an offline messaging app.
Whatsapp and hike are the best messeging applications for texting. Thanks for the wonderful article.
I am using hike and pulse SMS app to do offline messages. I like both the applications very much. Thanks for such a comprehensive article.
There is another application that can communicate offline using only WiFi Direct. It is called AFIR (available on Google Play). Unlike other similar applications, AFIR provides completely anonymous communication, since AFIR does not send other users such metadata as IP, MAC address, etc.
Great list! I’ve been looking for an offline messaging app that actually works. I’ve tried a few before, but they always seem to have issues with message delivery or compatibility. I’ll definitely be trying out some of these apps. Thanks for the recommendation!
