This can be a frustrating experience, especially if you rely on your phone for work or other important matters. However, the good news is that fixing this issue is easier than you might think. In this article, we’ll show you how to troubleshoot and fix your iPhone not ringing while watching videos in just three simple steps.

Adjusting a few settings on your device ensures you never miss a call again, even while watching your favorite videos. So, let’s dive into the solutions and get your iPhone ringing again!

Why is My iPhone Not Ringing

Did you miss an important call while watching your favorite TV show or movie on your iPhone? It will be definitely frustrating, especially if it is a confirmation call for the delivery of goods or something that needs your immediate attention. To avoid that, you need to check notification settings on your iPhone to fix the issue of the iPhone not ringing while watching videos.

Is your iPhone not ringing for incoming calls? Well, there might be several reasons why that happens. For example, the ringer switch on the left side of your device is turned on and your iPhone is in silent mode. Or if your device is in Focus mode or DND mode, then you won’t receive alerts for calls.

Have you connected a Bluetooth headset to your iPhone? If the headset is not in your ears, you cannot hear the ringing sound. Or if your iPhone doesn’t ring only while you are watching videos, you can fix that by changing the call notification style.

Set Call Notification Style to Full Screen

Let’s say you are getting a call while watching videos on Facebook, YouTube, Netflix or other streaming apps. And, we expect the iOS to pause the video and alert you of the incoming call. If it doesn’t happen and your iPhone is not ringing, then check out the call notification settings on your device.

  1. Navigate to Settings->Phone.
  2. Tap Incoming Calls.
  3. In the new screen, make sure the value is set to Full Screen.

If the value is set to Banner, you will get an incoming call alert at the top of the screen like a small banner. And, if you are watching videos, you might fail to notice the banner as there might not be a ringing sound. However, if you set the value to Full Screen, iOS will pause the video and show the call alert on full screen. And, you will never miss any calls even if you are watching videos.

This notification style applies to a normal phone call, FaceTime call or other calls you receive on third-party apps.

Missing important calls while watching videos on your iPhone can be a frustrating experience, but fortunately, it’s an issue that can be resolved with just a few simple steps. Following the solutions outlined in this article, you can easily troubleshoot and fix your iPhone not ringing while watching videos, if you don’t mind. Whether you need your phone for work or want to ensure you never miss a call from a loved one, these solutions will ensure that your phone always rings loud and clear. So, the next time you enjoy a video on your iPhone, rest assured that you will get a call.

Next time you miss any call on your iPhone, remember to check the call notification setting to resolve the issue.

  1. I have my notification style set to full screen. iPhone does pause the video and displays the caller on full screen.
    However, I think part of the reason everyone is still complaining is less that and more the lack of an actual ringtone. If you are listening to a video in any app… YouTube, FB, browser, podcast, etc., the full screen display with no ringtone is perceived as an ad playing and video will resume shortly.
    The only solution is every time the video pauses, you have to pick up your phone to look at it and see if it’s an ad or a call. Inconvenient.
    Phone calls use to audibly ring through videos so you were aware there was a call. Maybe you could post an article how to fix this issue. Apple troubleshooting forum doesn’t seem to comprehend explanations regarding what the exact issue is :/
