Did you just switch to Signal with more focus on privacy over your personal data? You might have noticed getting notifications and alerts whenever someone in your contact joins Signal. The feature originally seen on Telegram is really annoying for many. If the “Contact joined” notification annoys you, Signal has an option to get rid of them.
Here we will see how to turn off Contact Joines notifications in the Signal app, both on your Android and iPhone.
Turn Off Contact Joined Notifications in Signal
When I joined the Signal app to check out how it differs from WhatsApp and other apps, one thing I missed was my contacts on other messaging apps. Not everyone in my contact list was on Signal. But later I started getting notifications whenever someone joins new on Signal. I did not ask for it. I was already annoyed with Telegram’s such notifications. See how I disabled the option in the Signal app.
- Open Signal app on your Android or iPhone.
- Tap your profile icon at the upper left corner.
- Go to the Notifications option.
- Toggle off the “Contact Joined Signal” option.
That’s it. You will no longer get such annoying notifications from Signal. We do not need to know if everyone is our contact list joins the Signal app.
In case you want to know who all are on the Signal available to chat from your contact, there is a simple workaround for that. From the Signal app home screen, tap the pencil icon at the top right corner. There you will see the list of contacts. All the contacts you see there are Signal users already. You can also search for a specific contact as well.
Unlike many other apps, Signal lets you turn off contact joined notifications if they become annoying. You can keep the option enabled to see who all are joining Signal. But it will clog up your chat window and make you feel uncomfortable at times.
